So a few months back, my friend Tom Fletcher showed me the website of this guy Olly Moss, who is a graphic design rock star. He went and reimagined the movie posters of classic films (or at least, popular films).
Here’s the link:

Today I ran across a similar project. A guy named Spacesick (I couldn’t find his real name) did the same thing, only this time he turned the movies into faux-paperback “novelizations.” They are simple and clever and beautiful. What I love most about them is that both Olly Moss and Spacesick manage to distill the story of the movie into a compelling image (albeit images that are inspired by the film director and the screenwriter, who came up with the original ideas and images.)
Also, I love that occasionally it takes a moment to figure out what the design is representing. It’s like a little tiny beautiful puzzle to solve. If only more movie posters (and ads in general) were this awesome. Thanks again to Tom for putting me onto Olly Moss.
